Prepare children to be ready if a disaster strikes!
Disasters can occur anywhere and at any time, destroying lives and property. Preparation can help reduce the fear, anxiety, and losses that accompany those events. Risk Watch: Natural Disasters was developed to teach children and their families how to recognize, plan for, and respond to a variety of disasters.
Engaging age-appropriate activities combine education and imagination to help students acquire practical life-saving skills relating to...
* General preparedness
* Earthquakes
* Floods
* Hurricanes
* Tornadoes
* Wildfires
* Severe winter storms
Risk Watch integrates easily into subjects such as health, language arts, or physical education. You'll receive five units in all...
* Level 1: Storytellers--Preschool-K
* Level 2: Detectives--Grades 1-2
* Level 3: Reporters--Grades 3-4
* Level 4: Promoters--Grades 5-6
* Level 5: Coaches--Grades 7-8
Each unit includes a lesson card for each disaster area, a lesson plan, step-by-step procedures for classroom activities, caregiver letters, home-community bulletins, and more. Levels 1-4 also contain a CD with grade-specific student workbooks (kindergarten-Grade 6 only) and evaluation instruments and other materials from the teacher module (all levels). Throughout the curriculum, there are opportunities for community experts to reinforce classroom lessons with additional information and a 'real world perspective.'
