The second edition of Awareness Level Training for Hazardous Materials is intended as a primary text for all personnel seeking to qualify as Awareness Level responders to hazardous materials incidents. It addresses NFPA 472, Standard for Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, (2002 Edition), for Awareness Level, and it also covers the Office of Domestic Preparedness Emergency Responder Guidelines (for terrorist incidents involving weapons of mass destruction) for Awareness Level for firefighters and law enforcement officers.
Awareness Level Training for Hazardous Materials covers hazardous materials regulations; transportation placards, labels, and markings; and hazard communication requirements for Canada and Mexico as well as the United States. It includes many sidebars, information boxes, safety reminders and warnings, and provides instructions on how to use the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG).
